Sony apologises for PS5 pre-order chaos
Sony has apologised for the chaos caused by PlayStation 5 pre-orders this week.
“Let’s be honest: PS5 pre-orders could have been a lot smoother,” Sony said in a tweet on the official PlayStation account. “We truly apologise for that.
“Over the next few days, we will release more PS5 consoles for preorder – retailers will share more details.
“And more PS5s will be available through the end of the year.”

Sony came under fire this week after pre-orders for the PS5 went live on Wednesday night UK time – before they were officially announced.
In August, Sony said it wouldn’t surprise-reveal PS5 pre-orders. “I think it’s safe to say, we’ll let you know when pre-orders will happen,” PlayStation worldwide marketing head, Eric Lempel said.
“It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice. We’re going to at some point let you know when you can pre-order a PS5 so please don’t feel like you have to go run and line up anywhere until you receive official notice on how that will work.”
