Ten Hag has been under pressure to keep his Old Trafford job as they sit eighth in the Premier League and if they don't win the FA Cup, they will finish the season trophyless. Days on from saying England boss Gareth Southgate to United "can't happen", Neville believes the former Ajax boss should get another campaign in charge, particularly as their injury-list has been considerable.

He said on Sky Sports: "I don't see a suitable replacement for Ten Hag available. Bayern Munich are struggling to find a replacement [for Thomas Tuchel], others are struggling. I think we need to stick with Ten Hag and give him one more season – an injury-free season – to see if United can get back to the standards of last season where they won a trophy and finished in the top four."

THE BIGGER PICTURE

United have had a whole host of injury issues this season, particularly in defence; where Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane, and Lisandro Martinez have spent spells on the sidelines. However, the Red Devils seem to have gone backwards from last season where they won the Carabao Cup and came third in the Premier League. They could be on course to earn their worst-ever Premier League points total, too.

After United take on Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday, Ten Hag's side round off their league season against Newcastle United and Brighton in their remaining fixtures. They then lock horns with Manchester City on May 25 in the FA Cup final.
