Hotel Barcelona: Unlock All Areas & Hearts (Walkthrough Guide)
Hotel Barcelona will start you off at the Diamond Lake Campground area to face off against the first major boss of the game, the baseball player named Jacob. However, once you get a good look at the full map, you will notice several other areas that are locked. Some of these areas will become accessible after clearing others, but some can only be entered by completing optional activities.
Getting Hearts for Justine’s skill tree will also go hand in hand with unlocking areas, as these are obtained by defeating the bosses in Hotel Barcelona. As I mentioned, some of the Hearts are optional; however, this guide will cover how to get all the Hearts in Hotel Barcelona, how to defeat all the bosses, and how to unlock each area.
How to Unlock Long Pig Steakhouse in Hotel Barcelona (Get Jacob's Heart)
The first heart that Justine can get comes from the first boss of Stage 1 (Jacob). Once you finally take care of the brute, you will immediately gain access to the second stage, Long Pig Steakhouse.
Jacob’s Heart allows Justine to retain 5% of her belongings that would be discarded when she embarks. The collected hearts do not have to be equipped, as they are permanent additions to the skill tree in Hotel Barcelona.
How to Unlock the Storage Area in Hotel Barcelona (Nigel's Heart)
Nigel is the boss of Long Pig Steakhouse. Once you take care of him, not only will you get Nigel’s Heart for Justine’s skill tree, but you will also gain access to the Storage Basement area of Hotel Barcelona.
Nigel’s Heart unlocks invincibility for Justine when downed.
How to Unlock the Main Building in Hotel Barcelona (Eve's Heart)
Once you take care of Eve, the boss of the Storage area, you will get Eve’s Heart for your skill tree. However, the next locked stage will not open for you just yet. Before you progress with the story, you will need to take the three powerful Hearts you have and take them to the fortunetelling Clown machine in the Hotel lobby.
Eve’s Heart allows you to retain 10% more belongings that would be discarded when you embark on a mission.
Offer Nigel’s, Eve’s, and Jacob’s hearts to the machine. Once you do so, something will happen in the story, and the bosses will all get revived! Yup, that means you have to return to the first three areas of Hotel Barcelona and fight the bosses again to get the hearts back. The process remains the same, but the bosses will have a bit more health this time around.
With the three hearts in hand (again), return to the Clown machine in the hotel lobby to sacrifice them. Now, you will actually unlock the last stage in the main story, the Main Building of Hotel Barcelona.
Once you wrap up the stage, you will roll credits and earn yourself the Nameless Witch’s Heart.

How to Unlock the Death Doll Area in Hotel Barcelona (Bradley's Heart)
To unlock the Death Doll area in Hotel Barcelona, you will need to keep playing the pinball minigame in the Bar area. The four main missions (listed below) need to be completed. Once you do it, a boss fight will commence with a baby doll named Bradley.
- Light all Four Lamps
- Open the Gate
- Hit the baby doll
- Enter the boss door
Bradley’s Heart allows you to retain 5% more belongings that would be discarded before embarking.
How to Unlock the Deep Jungle Area in Hotel Barcelona (Zillion's Heart)
Probably the most frustrating of the secret areas to unlock, you will need to access the Bonus Deep Jungle Activity Zone doors in order to fight the boss at Deep Jungle.
These green doors can be found in any of the stages (even on Easy mode), but you need to be on the lookout for doors that say ‘Bonus‘ for the Attraction. And in this Deep Jungle activity, there are 17 Shark Gnomes you will have to find and attack.
Locating them isn’t that hard, as the area is fairly linear, but it will take you multiple tries to destroy them all, because you have limited hits before you get kicked out of the challenge room. Luckily, your progress will be saved each time, so you will not have to find all the Gnome Sharks each time.
If you’re having trouble finding the last one or two, you can always pay some coins to the Clown machine at the start of the challenge room, and he will destroy a random one for you.
After the dolls are defeated, the Zillion boss will appear near the entrance of the challenge room. After defeating the shark monster, you will get Zillion’s Heart.
Ayako's Heart in Hotel Barcelona (Crystal Sword Password)
To fight the last boss in Hotel Barcelona and get the final Heart, you will need to beat the game. Once you do so, you’ll be able to rent movies and a video game from the Concierge. This will cost money to get them all, so make sure to stock up on some dollars.
After watching the videos and noting down the password of each, go ahead and rent the Crystal Sword game from the Concierge. Once you reach the end, you will need to enter a password using the secret letters at the end of the tapes you can rent. The answer is D3ATH! However, we are unsure if you actually need to rent and watch all the tapes for the code to work.
Once you “log in” successfully, a very cool 2D boss fight will start with Ayako. Defeat her to get Ayako’s Heart, which allows Justine to have an extra Slasher Phantom active during a run.
